Summertime Aperol Spritz
Nothing quite says summertime like sipping on an aperol spritz! They’re light, refreshing and pretty to drink! I’m mostly a wine and ranch water kind of girl but I can always get on board with a good spritz. An aperol spritz is usually my summer day drink of choice because it’s low in alcohol and easy to sip on. This drink is a perfect alternative to sparkling rosé when having some friends over on a hot summer day! The best part is, it’s extremely easy to make. Pair this drink with a cheese plate, caprese salad or mixed olives and nuts and call it a day!
Traditionally, aperol spritz is made up of just 3 ingredients but after having a jazzed up version at Juliet, I decided to replicate that version at home. The mint and basil really add to the experience of the cocktail. I always choose really large wine glasses for this drink so I can pick up the hints of the fresh herbs and orange. There is no right or wrong recipe when it comes to this cocktail, so depending on how tart or light you like your aperol spritz, feel free to play around with the ratio of aperol and prosecco.
Aperol Spritz
Large Ice Cubes
3 oz Aperol ( You can pour less or more here depending on how tart you like your spritz. I typically do 1 shot.)
3 - 4 oz Prosecco
A splash of Topo Chico
Sliced Orange
Sliced Lemon
A couple Blackberries
1 Basil Leaf
1 Sprig of Mint
Happy summer sipping!
