3 Tips for Dressing Feminine This Spring

If I had to describe my style in two words, I would probably say feminine and classic. I always dress on the conservative side and choose pieces that accentuate my figure and height. There is nothing prettier to me than when a woman is dressed appropriately and highlighting her assets. For me, I’ve had to live and learn when it’s come to dressing. There’s no better way to tailor your personal style than by looking back at photos and seeing what shapes, colors and outfits looked best on you. From there, you can see what to look for when you’re shopping for new pieces to add to your wardrobe.

Here are the 3 things I look for when I’m putting together outfits this spring!

Dress for your figure

I’m 5’1 so I typically look for high waisted skinny jeans and simple heeled sandals that will elongate my legs. With that, I typically like to pair tops that are a little looser and more structured and that balance out the form fitted leg. If I’m wearing a boxy or loose fitted top (which is 80% of the time) I’ll choose blouses with feminine fabrics like lace or silk or I’ll pair some girly jewelry to warm up the look. If I’m wearing a longer top, I’ll usually tuck in the front to accentuate my waist.

Look for texture and color

When I think of spring, I think of lace, florals, colors and whimsical fabrics. There is no better way to brighten up your look (and your day) than by putting on a pretty colorful top or dress. Florals can be so gorgeous and feminine to wear, but I always make sure they are more subdued and not too loud. A busy pattern or overly bright floral can make you appear larger than you are, especially if you have curves. I like to look for muted florals and colors that complement my skin tone and lightweight form fitted fabrics that hug in the right places.

Play with your accessories

Accessories are always the best way to take a regular outfit to a super cute one. Whether it’s cat eye sunglasses, a furry bag or fun statement earrings, accessories make or break and outfit to me. I do believe in less is more so if I’m wearing really big statement earrings, I’ll usually tone down my shoes, sunglasses and purse. It’s all about balance!
